 IP Intellectual Property relates to intangible property rights that can be protected under federal and state law.
 Royalty Your company can miss out on royalty income if you do not protect your intellectual property rights.
 Copyright COPYRIGHT is a subset of intellectual property, which protects original expression of an idea such as in art and literature.
 Patents PATENTS are a type of intellectual property that protect new inventions, processes, compositions, and functions. Patents are the strongest IP protection obtainable.
 Trademark TRADEMARKS protect names and logos used to identify goods or services. A mark must be distinctive rather than descriptive.
 Trade Secret TRADE SECRETS protect others from unauthorized use and disclosure of confidential information, practice not generally known.
 Legal Action Legal action can be taken against you if your intellectual property infringes on another’s rights.
 Attorney An attorney should be consulted to determine whether there are competing rights against your intellectual property.
