Overview & Experience

Ann Marie has devoted the entirety of her professional career to public service, first as a federal government employee and now as a municipal attorney since being licensed to practice in 2010. During this time, Ann Marie developed a special emphasis on open government issues.  She provides public records training to local government employees and officials and is often a speaker on Public Records Act and Open Public Meetings Act compliance.  Having earned her undergraduate degree in Geography and Urban Planning, Ann Marie also works closely with planning and development staff to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal land use and environmental laws, and has represented multiple cities in LUPA appeals, condemnation matters, Growth Management Hearings Board appeals, and numerous city administrative hearings and appeals including, but not limited to, preliminary plats, variances, conditional use permits, reasonable use exceptions, and SEPA matters. Ann Marie also frequently handles land use code enforcement matters at the city administrative and superior court level and provides all-city staff trainings on this subject. 

 

As part of her regular practice, Ann Marie has served as interim or acting city attorney or assistant city attorney for several municipalities during vacancies and extended leaves of absence for periods of a few months to a year. She served as the interim City Attorney for Burien, interim City Attorney for Lake Forest Park, interim Assistant City Attorney for Mercer Island, and acting City Attorney for Snoqualmie, and served in a recurring role as a Special Assistant City Attorney for Bellevue.

 

Ann Marie is currently the City Attorney for Edgewood and Roslyn, and Deputy City Attorney for Issaquah.
